Review By: Metal Miguel

I remember listening to Pomegranate Tiger back in the day when they released their debut in 2013 and enjoyed that very much, so it’s been such a long time since they popped up on my radar, but this new album is a banger!

I suppose it’s nice to see where a band ends up after you haven’t listened to them in a while and this time is no different – I saw the video for “Devils to Ourselves” and really enjoyed it, so when the opportunity to review the album presented itself, who was I to complain. I’m glad I did, though, because it has a nice punchy and variable sound to it and the music is a rollercoaster of prog-metal discovery, lots of riffs, tunes and belting metal; you really are spoiled for choice from beginning to end.

Martin has been a busy boy, but it’s good to see the creative itch hasn’t left and keen to push out music, even independently, but he keeps good company in touring and working with other musicians, so it’s hardly surprising when such a rich album of music makes an appearance. The album is stacked with tunes for you to enjoy and clearly tells a story albeit the album is instrumental but the track names with the pace and intensity of the tracks point towards a story of a modern tech-based environment surrounding machines and humans, but I’m speculating here.

Give this a whirl and enjoy the various progressive metal songs that seamlessly blend into one another, giving you a long and enjoyable forty-five minutes of catchy riffs, fantastic guitar monikers, rhythm and plenty of face-melting metal when it’s all combined in the Pomegranate Tiger way, allowing for an enjoyable flow of technically based musicianship and catchy tunes.
