To say that Spite is one of the most exciting bands right now in the heavy music scene is an understatement to say the least. The 5-piece from California have done nothing but excel and blow the minds of anyone who listens to them. The 4th album “Dedication To Flesh” is no exception. Spending their time writing this record during lockdown as well as the recent signing to Rise Records, Spite are showing no signs of stopping, constantly proving they are still a force to be reckoned with.

The band have primarily based their sound around their live shows, creating a product that they know will go down well with anyone catching them on a stage, and it works very well. Listening through this album, I can barely keep myself still. “Dedication to Flesh” is 12-tracks of pure groove infused deathcore at its finest, pummelling listeners with blast beats, breakdowns and beatdowns mixed with Darius Tehrani’s incredibly diverse vocal range. Every track gives the listener something different to journey through as Spite explore all aspects of heavy music, delivering a different combination of brutality with each song, delving into some hardcore, death metal and down-tempo throughout.

The musicality on this record is something to be heavily admired. Lucas Garirrigues and Alex Tehrani’s diverse riff writing really make this album stand out, tapping into their influences and throwing everything they can at this record, with bassist Ben Bamford and drummer Josh Miller backing them up with brute force and power. The track “The Most Ugly” really displays the immense diversity these guys have to offer, but as mentioned before, every track has something different to offer on this record.

It’s no wonder why these guys have picked up the following they have; Spite have completely owned their sound and devastated stages since their creation in 2016. “Dedication to Flesh” is a big wake-up call to every band in the heavy music genre and an absolute must-listen to record for this year. The album got delayed by a month as the band wanted to give this record the extra push to reach a wider audience and get the best out of it they could, but believe me, it’s going to be worth the wait. “Dedication to Flesh” will be released on 19th August, and I can’t stress enough that this is an album to keep an eye on.
