If you like your Metal delivered at a no-nonsense, medium to fast pace with a bit of attitude, then it’s well worth spending twenty minutes listening to the Kings Today EP by Sicksense.

The husband-and-wife duo of Vicky Psarakis (Killer V) and Robby J Fonts (Rob the Ripper) deliver a sharp mix of rap, harmony and brutal vocals to give Sicksense something slightly different to the norm. The rest of the band, comprising of Branislav Panic (Breakdown Bran) on guitars, Samuel Bedard (SOS) on bass and Cody Taylor (The True Cody Taylor) on drums, deliver some catchy sounds, heavy riffs and a good variation of pace.

Track one, Kings Today sets out the stall for what is to come with its roots firmly in Nu-Metal but with a modern twist. Forgotten days is a punchier, shorter affair with a punchy riff that has you wanting more. Tack three, Make Believe, just shades it for me as the best track on the EP, as the huge chorus had me hooked and singing along with Killer V. Track four, Soul Snatcher, begins at a much faster pace and for me has the best intro and riffs of the entire EP, allowing the rest of the band the opportunity to show what they can do (and they certainly deliver). Heart of Stone finishes it all off nicely and leaves you wishing it was a full album rather than an EP. So come on guys, let’s have some more!
