With 2023 now fading into recent history, we embark upon 2024 with a vision of surpassing what has gone before, and the new EP by Night Thieves “Polarity” goes some way to realising those ambitions. “Polarity” which is the third EP release from the London Hard Rockers following on from “Battle Cry (2020)” and “Spiral (2021)” is indeed a bright start to the new year and should go some way into bringing some much-needed festivity hangover relief and joy to the often-dreary winter months ahead.

Night Thieves is Jess Moyles (vocals), Paul Andrew (Guitar), Rick Hunter-Burns (bass) and Ryan Delglyn (drums).

Opening track Collide is a slightly dark enveloped tune with a beautiful and belting heavy bass riff that conjures up images of people from different worlds impacting on each other’s lives and changing them forever. Proper modern punchy riffs with a clever progressive spin!

Slightly softer track The Way the Story Goes has a bit of a retro feel to it, with my mind being drawn back to many of the fantastic dark/gothic bands of the 80s. A thoroughly enjoyable listening experience and a big thumbs up from me!

Following in Alice’s footsteps, Night Thieves also take a trip Through the Looking Glass to explore new worlds and experiences. The chaos infused riff, heavy on the hammer backdrop and Jess Moyles crystal clear vocals make this a very cool tune listen indeed!

Final track Walkaway is modern metal through and through with an excellent fusion of several different elements perfectly blended into an absolutely banging song that demonstrates that Night Thieves certainly are an upcoming band to look out for with an assured future very much on the horizon.

Polarity is a definite step-up in class for Night Thieves who are fast improving and honing their skills with great results. Night Thieves have gathered support along the way from the likes of Planet Rock, Powerplay, BBC Radio 1, Rock Radio Magazine, Fireworks Magazine and Total Rock to name but a few so they are very much a band on the rise, so be sure to check them and “Polarity” out when it drops!
