Extreme Metal often tells some of the darkest and most gruesome stories. While most tend to play in the fiction sandbox, others visit real life tales of the macabre. For those that do, the haunting nature of Metal music comes to life.
Blackened death metal act Mindvile (Spain/USA) has signed with Paragon Records and Satanath Records for the release of its debut album, “Old Continent”, scheduled for September 25, 2026. This is actually the 1st installment of a pre planned conceptual project called Stories No Tongue Should Tell. Each of these installments will focus on different parts of human degradation. A real life horror story soundtrack based on actual events!
Old Continent is 8 songs of purely sinful majesty. The pace is relentless and the stories are gruesome! The high pitch blood curdle scream of Vate’s vocals steer us into a direction of human depravity. The guitar tone on my initial listen took me a bit to adjust too. My 2nd listen however my ears grew to its grating and crunching sound. The blast beat laden record is dreadful for all the good reasons!
The opening track and 1st single Bite by Bite sets the record off in a turbulent pace. Each riff is catchy, each beat explodes in your ears while the vocals send an icy shiver down your back. Hands down the best song on this album!
Unholy Task is a blitzkrieg of anarchy. The song is all over the place. It’s violent, it’s fast, has breakdowns and is overall a tumultuous weapon in Mindvile’s arsenal. It leads right into The Evil Siren’s Tongue, a sinister riff heavy track that is pure hellfire and brimstone.
Judge, Killer and Executioner is a hyper tense adrenaline rush. The song erupts right from the jump and keeps the metaphorical beating throughout. The riff 2 minutes in is completely sick and abrasive! An unforgettable track!
An inferno rush, that’s no holds barred. Old Continent delivers and keeps up a punishing pace. It’s not a meat and potatoes extreme metal record. Mindvile drops a record that should receive a ton of attention. It’s dark, mysterious and packs a punch!
