The first full-length debut album by Crooked Shapes! These guys originate from Reading in the U.K. and they are another power trio! Let’s get into it.

So they kick things off with opener, Fire. Just from the beginning you know these guys have a real technical streak, the time signatures and rhythms are different, not a bad different either.

Track 3, Appetite, is a particular highlight, and sounds so anthemic! The way the drums pound through, the simple but effective guitar riffs, the vocal melody, it all comes together here, and it’s awesome!

The self-titled track of the album is an amazing instrumental, featuring some of the best bass work on the album. Very impressive indeed.

Fallout has some great guitar riffs, really showing off the skill of vibrato, before an amazing solo. The vocals are at their peak here for sure.

The album closer, Don’t Look Back, is the longest track on the album, at just over 6 minutes. This is more of a rock ballad, but the low, groovy riffs absolutely work in delivering the final punch of the album.

This album has a real variety, from the anthemic Appetite, to ballad-esque Don’t Look Back. The time signatures on this album change frequently and give the album huge momentum. There’s some amazing basslines here, and the vocalist is at the top of his game. An essential album to the genre.
