Review By: Jay Creepy

With an album name such as this, you kind of know what you’re in for. Heavy growling guitars, fast apocalyptic drum patterns and a snarling ominous vocalist.

The short but decomposed sweet title track kicks things off, but it’s the multi layered beat infested, transition rich Relentless Entropy that bids you welcome with gnashing teeth into the world of Corpsessed. They’ve been around about fifteen years now – putting out EPs and LPs since 2011, and have mastered the Autopsy and Cannibal Corpse classic sound whilst staying brutally unique.

Most tracks have quite varied intros, we hear a swarm of bees on track three, followed by a really dramatic building for slice four, Spiritual Malevolence. This one is rugged and like riding an out of control bucking horse. It throws you all over the place. Just over three minutes inside, the break to swooping guitars and reverb is fantastic.

This is pure uncut Lovecraft style Death Metal from Finland, no compromise. Niko Matilainen aka NM and Matti Makela, aka MM really delivers shovels of grave soil into your ears with each and every word they utter, whilst Jyri and Jussi, aka J-PM and JL back the annihilation of humanity via drums and guitars (MM also blasts out a furnace of guitar squeals).

Profane Phlegm, then Pheuma Akathartos close things off with the bangs of an iron gate locking you within the carcass of insanity.

Succumn to Rot is the inevitable end where all things must eventually die and give into the relentless forces of entropy, and disintegrate into nothingness…” thus stated MM and kind of summing up the whole picture. Speaking of pictures, the almost Dali like nightmare inspired cover is a wonder to behold.
