Death, taxes and a brand new Werewolves record. Those are the only guarantees in life, and on October 9, 2026, the Australian death metalers will bestow upon us their 7th record in 7 years. The violent and heavy act have promised us 10 albums in 10 years, or they will commit group suicide. 70% of their goal has been accomplished with the release of You’re Weak and You Know You’re Weak from Back on Black records.

Werewolves are that band that does not attempt to reinvent the wheel. You can hear a Werewolves record and there’s no doubt who it is! The lyrics range from offensive, to very offensive and downright disgusting. The opening track, Uroboric Fuckwit is a great defender of the previous statement. Werewolves are now a death metal staple.

This record is a diabolical riff fest with something new and sinister at every turn. Everything is gritty and beautifully ugly the way death metal is intended. Whether it’s Tank Habit or Burn it to the Ground, this record delivers riff after bloody riff. The abrasive vocals married with the explosive blast beats make this record a death metal wet dream!

So Say All of Us, hands down the best song on the record, starts with a Richter scale-shaking explosion! The line “Music that murderers listen to” explores the inner psyche of….who the fuck am I kidding. It’s a Werewolves record! It’s pure anarchy!

The frenetic and hyper tense track Fields of Suicide might have the best riff of 2026. 20 seconds in and you are pounded to dust. I’ve replayed that riff multiple times because it is just plain filthy! The rolls of the double bass create a typhoon warning, a ground-shaking moment! But that riff is just gross!

We March is the heaviest thing I’ve heard in a long time. The slow, sludgy, obituary-like pace, the dynamic breakdown and the haunting atmosphere throughout is a different approach for the death metal veterans. Everything about this song, from its pace to its explosive tempo change halfway through, makes this record one of the best on the entire record.

The thrash-laden riff of The Song of Stupid Men to the feral ferocity of the title track end this record with a World War 3 blitzkrieg! The onslaught and metaphorical curb stomp turn your brains to liquid and keep your limbs shaking. This record takes you through a lot of hills and valleys throughout, but the ending is primal and final! A vicious beating.

The sheer fact this band can keep pumping out malevolent and filthy death metal year to year like clockwork is mind-blowing. Each record is like an accelerant to some much larger explosion only for the next record to add fuel to the fire. A hostile frenzy of death metal royalty, Werewolves deliver again!
