A lot can happen in 7 years. Hell, the world we once knew changed only 6 years ago. One thing that is certain however, Neolith, Polish extreme metal veterans are still releasing brutal and violent metal. September 12, 2026 they will shake loose the soil of the underworld and give us a malevolent and sinister record only they can produce. Inbir, stemming from an ancient Sumerian language for “war” is the absolute perfect title for this pulverizing slab of extreme metal goodness.
Coming from Deformeathing Production, Inbir is a blood thirsty dance with the devil that is aggressive and hostile, melding with some traumatic melodies that stifle the soul and turn the brains to liquid. Heavy, does not even scratch the surface with this record. The haunting atmosphere and frenetic blast beats in Of All The Gods appease the black metal fan, while the title track stokes the internal flame of death metal’s stingiest critics.
This being their 6th record, Neolith is at the summit of Polish Extreme Metal Royalty. At 39 minutes this album is a bi-polar blistering attack of the senses. Attempting to label Neolith is nearly impossible, as they generate Blackened, Death and thrash overtures. Ouroboros is an unrelenting riff fest with some of the best vocals in the game. The blood curdling snarl laying the listener to waste; one needs recovery time before diving further into this mass of hellish soundscapes.
Ashur Has Given Me A Brother is an OSDM masterpiece and hands down the best song on the record. Tickling the classic Morbid Angel and Dead Congregation cavern in your brain, this track is a certified curb stomp. Blast beats, riffs and diabolic vocals, it’s an Extreme Metal masterclass in and of itself.
Awakening like a corpse in a horror movie, Neolith has put their bloodied thumbprint on the soul of 2026. In a year with some of the most morose extreme metal, Neolith’s Inbir is standing at the forefront of some of the best of the year. A blackened death metal work of art, 7 years in the making, that is ready to wrap its icy cold fingers around the throat of the genre!
