Godslut is the latest lesson in brutality from Poland, comprising a three-piece with some serious DM credentials (Antigama and Hate amongst them).

What follows is a speedy but fairly generic slab of death metal that favours a total pummelling over melody, which in all honesty, is pretty welcome, as from start to finish it makes no apologies for being delivered at one speed – fast, and in one mood – furious.

They note that it will appeal to fans of Decapitated, which is bang on, as there are a ton of aural similarities there. You could argue that they owe quite a debt to Decapitated in its sound and approach, but if you are going to look to your influences for inspiration, then go with what feels suitable. Having a drummer who has been a member also helps. This is not a bad thing by any stretch, as you will hear as it unfolds, and it is exactly as you might expect it to sound.

It boots out the nine songs in 30 minutes but seems shorter than that as they tear through each one, with that discrete understanding that their music is similar to a shotgun at point-blank range – devastate and move. Fans of progressive metal, of melodic metal or off-shoots of those probably won’t find much here, whereas fans of pure death metal, delivered at lightning speed, will find a lot to love. In terms of a debut, this is good stuff and there is surely more to come as from them with future releases. A solid start!
