Review By: Eric Wilt
Unviâr is an atmospheric black metal band from Italy. Disglaç is their first full length and second overall release. They released the EP Faliscjis in 2023, and while I could find very little information about it, I checked it out, and it, like Disglaç, is an album that needs to be heard. Disglaç takes a step-up in production quality, but musically continues down the same wooded path as its predecessor.
Listening to the five songs on Disglaç is the musical equivalent of taking a walk in the forest on a brisk winter morning. The music is peaceful and contemplative while never straying from its driving force of blast-beat laden black metal. In addition to the usual black metal instruments of guitar, bass, drums, and voice, Unviâr uses other stringed instruments at times (presumably cello and violin?) to add to the overall ruminative mood of the album.
Clocking in right at 45 minutes, Disglaç’s five songs remind me of why I listen atmospheric black metal in the first place. Fans of Winterfylleth, Vanum, and Incandescence will find much to enjoy on this record.
